SUBMISSIONS TO THE GREYSTONES PRESS ARE CURRENTLY SUSPENDED
We’ve had a large number of submissions recently and our list for 2018 and 2019 is full.
These guidelines will apply when we are taking submissions again.
All submissions must be electronic; no paper submissions will be considered. The Greystones Press will publish the following categories of books:
- Adult fiction and non-fiction in the areas of Art, History, Literature, Music and Mythology (including Fairy Tales and Folklore).
- Young Adult (teenage) fiction.
- Translated European fiction where there is a grant for translation in the originating country or from a UK institution.
No illustrated books. No memoirs.
Submit, electronically as attachments, a synopsis (one side of an A4 sheet) and the first three chapters or first 10,000 words, whichever is the shorter. Please also supply a short biography and if you have it, any support from professional editors, mentors or traditionally published writers in your genre. If already published, provide your publishing history. You will hear from us as soon as possible We will either ask to see a full text or say the book is not for us.
We do not expect submissions via agents as there will be nothing they can do to negotiate terms upwards. As an independent start-up with limited funds, The Greystones Press will not offer advances against royalties. However, our royalties will follow the industry standard and will be paid every quarter.
We will ask only for UK Rights initially so if you have an agent, they can have the option of Foreign and Dramatic Rights. If you are unagented, we are happy to try to get your titles published in other territories.
